Pōhaku (stone)

Pōhaku was used for different purposes including; sport, a part of fishing apparatus, general tool for carving, sanding, sharpening, filing, as part of religious purposes, use for daily life work and weapons.
Description: 

Rectangular, Flat Lava Rock. Length: 9 inches, Width: 6 1/2 inches, Thickness: 7/8 inches (Edges are sharp and round up to 7/8 inches in the middle, Color: Light Brown Grey, Surface: One side is very smooth, the other is porous nad rounded. The pres are clogged with mud thus giving the brownish tint. The smooth side contains diagonal grooves at one end, Weight: 1 lb. 7.6 oz. Origin and use of rock are unknown.
