Pōhaku was used for different purposes including; sport, a part of fishing apparatus, general tool for carving, sanding, sharpening, polishing, filing, as part of religious purposes, use for daily life work and weapons.
Description: 

Hawaiian Stone Artifact. Height: 7 inches, Width: 4 inches (at widest point), Depth: 6 inches (approx.), Color: Grey, Surface: Very porous, Weight: 5 lb. 10 oz. This item is very unusually shaped so that it looks like a person's face with a long nose (cartoonish looking). When standing on its mouth open. The Hawaiians worshipped a fish god and made idols for this purpose and one suggestion is that this is a crude fish idol. However, this is just one of several suggestions as to its purpose. Others include a poi pounder or a canoe breaker.
