Wooden tool used for decorating kapa (cloth like material made from Wauke (Broussonetia papyrifera).
Description: 

Kapa Liner. Length: 12 7/8 inches, Width: 3/4 inches, Number of Teeth: 2, Material: Bamboo. These instruments were used to make the lined patterns on Kapa (tapa) cloth. 

Cultural Narrative: 

Lapa was used for decorating kapa, a clothlike material made from beating the damp bark of the Wauke (paper mulberry) with an iʻe kuku (kapa beater).  The lapa was primarily made with bamboo but could be made with any hardwood.
